I've just used pakrat and it all seems to be going fine so far. I have yet to test the map it on another computer yet though.

okay. I have two custom icons. one of them worked, the other didnt.

both were in the bsp, i checked both files to make sure they were all set up right. i double checked hammer, and they were set to the flag properly. ill quickly check out console and see if an error came up

edit - nothing in console

edit2 - it seems to only be messing up with the vtf file, not the vmt
when removing the vtf from the folder (still in the bsp though) i get the purple checkers. however, when puting it back into the folder, its fine. vmt did not do the same.

does anyone know why it would not read it (but still reads another obj icon i have used. both created and compiled the same way)

I would recommend Map Analyst over Pakrat because of similar problems I have had. Pakrat would pack up a prop texture; the texture was packed to the BSP, but not working in game. I tried adding the texture again, and it would add a second, then third copy of the texture, and the texture still wasnt working in game, even though the file size was larger and the texture clearly packed.

After this, I tried using Map Analyst. It worked perfectly.

im trying it right now. everything is working well, except for the objective icons. when i do 'analyse map content', it gets everything except those sprites. but there is an option to add things manually. however, when I do this, it doesnt seem to do anything. I dont see them added to the list. I checked and double checked. am I using this feature wrong?

edit - nm boys. i get this sucker working. i dont think choosing the file was working, but when i exported it to a list first, then it included. so yah, WOOHOO! thanks for all the help
