Just started this last night and got a few hours put into it. Getting the displacements to line up with those trenches without stretching them all to hell sucked and took up most my time.

Im not sure exactly how many bomb targets im going to have but the layout im using could probably handle 3 with good even gameplay.

good trench work. hopefully someone can make a nice hedge model for you, to replace the stock one (something different with a better flow)

Yep, that sticks out like a sore thumb. Im gonna decompile a couple stock bushes and see if I can make them more natural when stuck side by side. I think those are really only used 1 at a time since valve only makes urban maps.

The open areas of this one should be a nice change from all the towns and city maps. That is if it runs okay.

You know, you can edit the shape of the displacements by vertex manipulating the original brush.

Yea I know but I have a large curve in the trench line that had to be all done by hand with that god awful displacement editor. Getting the terrain to line up with the trenches and still leave a hole for the "bunker" door wasnt a piece of cake for me either. :(

this reminds me of the COD 2 map mp_brecourt.
don't get me wrong - i liked that map alot
if youre trying to rebuild that cod map - cool!
if not - go on anyway because this is looking sweet :)

edit: here's a screenshot of the COD 2 map, just in case you'd like to have a quick look (http://www.callofduty.nl/screenshots/mp_brecourt.jpg)

The map looks good so far, looks like it could have potential, are you going to make it detonation?

Yea it will be similar, especially the trench areas and hedge line. It wont be a remake but the layout will be similar. Its the only layout I could find where I can make a large outdoor map while still having obstacles that will block VIS (hedgerow hill). A lot of other things will be new though. There will be a farm house with a road leading around the whole trench area to a barn in the field. The farm house and barn will be the spawn areas so there will be some cover from spawn killers.

My plan is to make it a bomb defusal map where the Germans have to defend their equipment from the Americans. Hence the name dod_defensive.

I made a new hedge model to border off areas and fit nicely side by side. It still needs a bit of tweaking cause it gets tricky lining it up if you rotate them vertically. I might go ahead and make a few different pieces for curves and what not also.
