(the explosion burn)

Also, when using something like that, is it better to use decal tool or the overlay tool?

One more question, when compiling, there is a text that says "portal flow" and it takes a long while (compared to other moments) in there before moving on. What is portal flow?

Well, overlays can be used on displacements. And they can be shaped and resized. You cant do that with decals. Though I'm not sure of the trade-off (if any).

that overlay is probably the one called "burn" might be something else. I prefer overlays over decals
And the portal flow is vvis compiling your map on full, and blocking Vis.

Overlays are more expensive from what I've read. So if you don't need to resize or use them on a displacement, go with a decal.

I'd go with "crater" as a filter word. I think that's its name.

Type "decal" in the filter. There are 2 or 3 textures there. I just looked.

Oh and overlays FTW !!

I don't think that EXACT burn mark is a decal, but there are some other similar ones. Like they said, search "crater" and "burn".

Overlays are more useful, but decals are cheaper for the game to draw. By cheaper, I mean barely cheaper, but cheaper nonetheless. Use decals when/if you can, but otherwise dont sweat it and use overlays. Most of the time I've had to use overlays so that I could resize and shape them to fit.

I believe that particular decal is called scorch_01 or something similar.

If you can't find it, try just using "decal" or "overlay" as the filter-word. It should only take a minute to browse through them all (presuming you don't try the ones that obviously are not it).
