[REL] dod_[SAS]_tides (CS:S Conversion)

Did this conversion a while back and only really posting it here as having played it a lot over the last coupla months it's become one of my fave maps, so thought I would share.

Before anyone moans, the SAS bit is due to a prob we had with dust as my conversion clashed with Haircut's (much superior) one - ppl getting map differs errors etc - I didnt give a lot of thought to what to call it, just that it couldn't just be dod_tides, dod_aztec etc - If you wanna change it to dod_tides or whatever feel free, I'm not claiming credit for the map as it is quite obviously a conversion.

I just renamed the spawns and placed the flags/spawn protection etc but I hope you will find it fun to play.

Decompiling a CS map, remake to a DOD map and release it like u made the map..
Such a shame......

Are you lot incapable of reading?..............................he has just stated that he doesn't take any credit for the map and the reasons for naming it as he has.

Perhaps some people should try actually making a map instead of coming on here just to post negative comments about people who take the trouble to either make a map or convert a map.

I agree Neutrino and Colster would be first to agree as well, but at the end of the day it's a contribution to the Dod community which is more than can be said for those who contribute nothing but are quick to critisise those who take the trouble to.

Perhaps they should try making a map and then they would see just how hard it is for one person to complete the entire process, when you bear in mind that the officoial maps have an entire team working on them.

Just annoys me when some people only take the time to post negative comments

Thank you SAS guys for contributing, more is more as they say ;)

You lot do a lot for the dod community, and it is appreciated greatly.

This map will be running on BoB at approx 10:15pm GMT, all are welcome to give this map a spin.

Thanks HellStar - saw ur server full running it earlier but couldnt get on to play at the time :(

....really don't want this to descend into a rant about something so petty as the filename - like I said if it offends, rename it

Please can we keep this thread to a discussion about the map itself, if indeed any comment is really necessary - I'm just posting up the link to what I feel is a good map - end of....

Just cut their name out of the files. Putting a big, fat [SAS] in the map name is just as bad as taking credit for doing 30 minutes of work. Next time just make it dod_csmapname ffs.

We really don't need to discuss the map anyway because it's ported right from CS. It might be a decent map, but the thing is so small. There's very little to talk about anyway since you won't improve it at all. It works or it doesn't, my guess is it doesn't.

*sigh* - Please learn to read before giving us the benefit of your "informed" opinion.

I don't think my contribution to dod is in anyway a subject for discussion, if just for my mattie scripts but I am no mapper (leave that to Dirty_Harry), I just thought the map would work for dod, so took some time to convert it, host it, and provide a link for "interested" parties to have a look.

If you're not interested, why are you even posting here?

I read all the posts. Why is the clan tag in the file name? Great, there's a name clash.... so why not dod_cstides? Seems self serving. However, thanks for converting it, I'll put it to vote on my server.

This isn't the first cs conversion map, nor the first map that members of the [SAS] community have proferred for DOD Source that contains their tag.
Im not a cs/css player but am able to recognize a cs port by name and appearance. Colster isnt offering it up as an original work nor pretending that it is DODS Valve quality. So why the kerfuffle?

Also, we might be really great mappers that are in the process of something right now but we haven't posted anything yet.

...or we are talking about the clan tag and not his actual contribution.
