Crosshair removal

05-27-2003, 02:28 AM
Hi

Just a typical newbie with a need for ironsight weapons.

Unfortunatelly the old way of removing crosshairs to specific weapons has failed, as the hud.txt file in my sprites directory, has no specific call for each weapon. All I can do is make an empty dodcross.spr image.

I understand that ironsights are generally less prefered.

Just wondering if anyone knew how to modify the day of defeat mod to remove the crosshair from specific weapons.

Sincerely, Nick

Hi Patton,

Yes. I have glimsharp's pre v1.0 v_garand.mdl.
I tried to copy paste what was in hid modified hud.txt to the v1.0 hud.txt, ran the game, and it didn't work. I'm trying to find out which file or executable has crosshair control.

Thank you for your help. I'm going to try it again.

Sincerely, Nick

you can no longer turn the crosshair off for specific weapons as of 1.0 its all or nothing and i think you need to make an empty dodcrooss.spr

Hi bmanc,

Thanks for the info. But is there a way to hack around that?
Kinda like those wall hacks I hear about work?

Sincerely, Nick

P.S. Would it be possible to find out how they disable the crosshair when switching weapons, or switching to a sniper rifle or knife.

Isn't there an option under Controls > Advanced to disable crosshairs? Never tried it, so I don't know if it works or not.

Is there no console command that you can use to remove it?
So you can bind it to turn it off and on.
