Small Texture Problem

For all the mappers out there using hammer

After playing so many maps in the hl1 and source engine i finally got so tired of seeing such a common error on maps that i decided to post a thread about it

The error is missaligned textures, usually due to the fact that mappers copy/paste brushes and dont bother or dont know how to realign the faces to world so they align with the rest of the brushes

When you clip, copy/paste, vertex manipulate or even sometimes create a brush you will notice that in the texture properties the Align to World checkbox is empty meaning that the face(s) are not properly alligned

Usually you can't just click the Align to World checkbox you have to click Align to Face then Algn to World again to fix te issue, just a small fix that can really help the quality of your map

OR you could use the ever so simple "texture lock" tool that means that whatever position your texture had on your original brush will remain on the pasted one...

No no no, thats not what im talking about

When the face of a brush chnages angle more then like 30' of it's old angle it changes alignement and unless you check align to face then align to world to reset it's alignment you can not align it the same way as your aligned faces, so even if you lift/select and paste a face's alignment properties it will not align correctly without resetting the face
