had the same problem. you have a leak in ither your map or your 3dskybox. load the pointfile and see if you have one

Best thing to do is compile the map with bsp only, scroll up that map and see if a model leaked.

If it did then you do have a leak.

To load the pointfile, in hammer, click the map menu and load pointfile.

Somewhere on the map, in all the windows, a red line will appear. Follow it to your leak.

Unfortunately I believe it can only do one leak at a time so you need to re-do the bsp compile and load the new pointfile to find each leak.

thanks for the info. i found the main link and fixed it. now all but 1 of the ghost images show up...however i have 1 red line coming from half way out of the sky block, out into space....so i have no idea what that means.
its not pointing at a leak.
so i guess i may have to leave it as it is, as most of the stuff it gone and im not making a public map

Look at that last line in all three windows as well as the 3d, I had one once that look like it went out the skybox but it turned out it had just dived sharply downwards and gone out a hole about 1 unit*1 unit big.

If the pointfile shows something then something is there.

I've seen hint brushes cutting through the skybox provoking "leaks" (though no pointfiles were created). If your red line goes into the void, then what's important isn't what it's pointing at, rather the way it takes before going out into the void. Most likely the sky brush it's coming out of is the one responsible and is usually an invalid brush.

Invalid brushes often appear fine in Hammer, until you close the map and reopen it and then it takes the closest allowed shape to the one you made, thus creating a leak.
