DoD_Highlander_rc1 now available for public play!

The map is 32-player compatible and should run nicely :)

A big thanks to CoolHandLuke, who has helped me every step of the way. Also thanks to everyone who has helped beta test the project as it's progressed, you were all great.

So I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping the bug reports are few and far between :D

Nice map.

Plays well.

Good atmosphere.

The footstep sound through the grass gets a little annoying though,(it reminded us of the sound easter basket grass makes). Is there a way to turn that sound down by half on the next release?

The cool thing is, it doesn't feel like anything else out there yet, so that's a plus! :)

gamer take note: 99% of the props are geared towards the village/town scenario so making a map with another settings is quite hard unless you are a modeller!

Good job on the map, very original...well done!

Just had a lone walk on the map and it is great! It should be great with other players.

I also found the skybox easter egg, has anyone found it too?

The map is a great change from the city/village maps....only thing is, that crappy footstep sound that you can hear half way across the map.
I have never heard a person run making that much noise in grass
unless it was dry..which that isn't.
Still good map.

thanks for the comments, guys, I really appreciate it. Hadn't touched highlander for over a month until tonight. Building things in real life took over for a while (masonry) :p but I'm hoping to chip away at it and knock out a final release within a week or so... stay tuned i suppose :D

I played it a couple of days ago, really good fps o my system so maybe you could pimp it up with more eyecandy and bushes and stuff? So what fps do all of you getting? Any big drops?

Really, really nice map and I didnīt get sniped as much as I thought I would, actually I didnīt get sniped once by a sniper but IS:ed a couple of them with the Garand.

JakeParlay

in rc1, FPS seems like it does really well on most systems until the player count reaches about 20-25... anything above that and everything slows down on most peoples machines. :(

but i've trimmed some of the fat, upped the vis-blocking, and tweaked a tweak here and there so hopefully final version coming soon will be ready to rock at max player capacity
