How do you create flyby planes?

I've been trying to do a flyby plane in my skybox for a few hours now and I'm getting quite tired of unsuccessful attempts.

Is there any tutorial (I've tried searching, couldn't find any) that explains how to make these fly by airplanes, or can anyone here explain to me how to do it?

My main problem is that I can't tie a model to a, let's say, func_rotate to make the airplane spin in circles

Hmm I'm interested in this as well. I check out how it was done in Argentan, but when I went to do it myself everything seemed to work except no visible planes! Still sounds cool to hear 'em though.

Easiest way to learn how to do this is to decompile Argentan and look at the 3d skybox in Hamer, thats what I did.

The plane model needs to be set to a prop_dynamic, that way you can set up parenting with other entities, in this case for a flyover you want to tie it to a func_tracktrain, and you need to set this train to use a series of path_track entities.

lol, thanks... I just tried prop_detail, prop_physics and prop_static, I was like "well if these don't work i guess dynamic doesn't" DOH!:o

a train related question, can you make lights move about in the sky?cause light objects have no parent so cant be set to a train entity.
and i need it to light up the area.

Yes, use a light_dynamic instead

I tried that but the light didnt, light up anything for some odd reason
