I absolutely agree!

I put the map on a server for DoD 1.3 and all of it worked, except one little issue:

In the church there is a hole in the floor with a ladder going down. You can go down ok, but once you get off the ladder and try to go back up, it seems like you go through the ladder as you get near the top, then the server side locks up and you have to restart the game.

Bummer, it was a blast of a game! Grab the key, run the gauntlet, up into the tower, unlock the cabinet, grab the TNT, back down, out the door, over the wall, to the half-track and BOOM!

Ah, good times!

There was true spawn camping on that map, if someone remade it I would hope they'd put some proper spawns in.

Otherwise I agree....and best dod church ever (except maybe Metz...but you couldn't get in or on top of that one)

My current project is a 'tribute' to Seg3 :D ... it's a bit more compact and the Allies left route is a bit different from the sewer of the original, and this is my first serious attempt at a map, but I've been getting to grips with Hammer over the last couple of months, so I'm going to make a good go of it, I hope!

Of course one of the main stumbling blocks is optimising it - the Church sits on a hilltop which makes reducing draw distances a challenge. There might have to be some creative use of walls and tall buildings once I've got some detail in the map, but at the moment I get 70fps across the map. I've only got a few 'real' objects in my map though - lots of place-holder blocks rather than actual buildings.

Whether it sees the light of day depends on Kamikaze (original Seg3 mapper) - I've pm'ed him asking if it's ok to make my tribute, with a new name, but he's not replied yet. Fingers crossed!
