I believe they remove swasticas so Germans can play. I've heard it was illegal for them to play games that feature swasticas.

Yea I've heard the same thing to, but where do I unzip this custom stuff to?

Why you would want swastikas I have no clue. Your sig has both swastikas and SS symbols. That, my friend, is really creapy. To me the SS symbol in particular represents the people who killed all of my ancestors minus one (which is why I am here) for being Jewish. The swastika was Hitler's symbol, not Germany's. I am incredibly glad the swastika was removed from the game.

Well, I can't speak for other people, but I choose to use the Swastika and SS symbols in my game because they were an actual part of WWII, simple as that. I don't believe in re-writing history, and I despise political correctness. That being said, the makers of DOD have the right to remove these symbols from the game if they so choose, and each of us have the right to use custom ones in our game individually, so everyone gets what they want I guess.
My point is, yes, the Nazis were evil, but they were a part of world history, like it or not, and you can't simply erase them from history. If these symbols and such offend a person, then don't use them in the game, simple as that. Certainly nobody is forcing anyone to I'm straying a bit from the topic, but I've often wondered how history would have been different if Hitler had been accepted as an artist instead of being rejected, and if he had been successful at it perhaps he would never have gone into politics and the whole Nazi thing might never have happened. Pretty interesting to think about...........

That reason was not lame at all. It was because they are German troops in Day of Defeat. The axis soldiers you play as are not Nazis, and Day of Defeat is about WWII warfare, not 1930/40's politics. It's a actually a very smart reason to have no Swastikas in DOD. The Wehrmacht, or German Army, has no affiliation with the National Socialist Party (Nazis). It's like calling the American soldiers in DOD communists.

what world was you born on they all had to swear an alegence to hitler the swastika was plasterd everywere and on everything

The SS, The Schutzstaffel was Nazi. The Waffen SS and Gestapo and all that was Nazi. The Wehrmacht had to fight for the Nazis, that does not mean that they are Nazis and share the same beliefs as them.

They are correct, not everyone in the German military, or for that matter, the general public were Nazis or Nazi sympathisers, and it isn't right to pack them all into one group. Although, they were all fighting for the same side and I would imagine had little choice in the matter. Still, during Hitler's leadership the Nazis were pretty much in control of just about everything, it was their way or no way, and I guess in the end, they all had to answer to Hitler one way or another.

Even the Wehrmacht had swastikas on their helmets, and used the swastika flag. To airbrush it out of history is to revise history, which I find repugnant. Yes, the Nazis did some horrific things. Nobody's arguing that point (I hope!). But erasing a part of history and pretending it never happened is every bit as bad as the bookburning Hitler did, and a sure way to ensure that future generations forget what happened, and then repeat the horrors.

holy ignorance batman! sorry but i had to pelase dont take offence

no one will forget, wars fought since the dawn of time have been rememebred, i shouldnt worry about the 2nd world war drifting over.

its not like anyones saying lets airbrush out history, its out of DoD because some find it offensive and thats fair enough and in germany its not allowed to be sold if it contains swastikas, and thats fair enough.

trying to say that we're trying to forget the war ever happened is frankly stupid.

Funny, they sell Return to Castle Wolfenstien in Germany, and its got swastikas all over.
