It's still a WIP.

AFAIK, since it's a big open map with alot of relatively complex brushwork, there's some major FPS issues. He's trying to fix that before he wants to release it.

In the meantime he has a life and is working on something else. (Previews of the other 3 maps can be seen in the Summary thread:

He should cancel it for dod:s and use it for ham and jam imo.

British on dday would be cool, with a bagpipe AI player.

He hasn't given up. Building a brand new game takes a great deal of time and energy, but I'm highly confident that Dogsector will be a great map in due time.

DogSector looked great, last I heard it was a big pain trying to optimise it and had a compile error he couldnt figure out.

The map is currently under optimisation. The good news is that I know the person optimising it and he know he can optimise it. So just a little bit of patience and the map should come out great. I play tested this map and it's a huge map. So it's need serious optimization on it. But the way it was build it's all possible since there are sector. Just a question of sealing them. so they don't see the rest of the map. :)

Stephenson said in the Facepunch forums that he got the beta of dogsector, so he still is working on it.

From what you saw Stephenson, can you give us an estimate of how finished it is?

TheSurgeon

Bocasean and UPA helped test it a few weeks ago. The FPS was in single figures for most people but I got some useful feedback still. I tried to run a full vis the other night but after 24hrs it was still only at around 60%. KominAaa is helping with the optimisation though, and there's nothing I can do until that's sorted out.

that map looks utterly awesome. Obviously beach maps aren't going to be as friendly to the fps as regular maps, so i hope it doesn't take too much to optomize it!

DoD:S desperately needs a proper beach map release!!!

He says back in April. It's now almost August. I don't think it's ever coming out.

It'll be out when it's finished. Once the soundscapes are sorted out there'll be a playtest for b2, probably sometime in the next week.

No, he actually means patients, as in people. They are the key to survival.

SilentSteps is a doctor, without patients he wouldn't be able to feed himself - they are necessary to his survival.
