dod_slope_source / dod_stalag13

Been working on these for a few months Slope beta has been released the final will be tomorrow It is a total remake for source. Stalag13 will be alpha testing till the end of the month still trying to figure out an objective for this map allies spawn outside the camp Axis inside the camp any ideas ?? other than cap flags.

Ive reloaded dod_slope_source.zip file there was some missing textures and the mini map was also missing DUH :( all is good now sorry

When I made original dod_slope I always thought it wouldnt get any popularity because I just wanted to test how would verdun like map play if it's symmetrical so neither side would have advantage. Obviously I was wrong since it has been remade ;) Well I'm fine with that.

But anyway, nice work. I like the 3d skybox and the bridge looks neat too. Maybe little more bushes and trees.

I wonder if anyone is reworking dod_warsaw or dod_vire...

Hey guys,

I always liked dod_slope and found it very fun to play.
The last cap was always difficult, but very rewarding when succesfull. (And very stressfull)

I've seen the images on the remake and I must say that it looks great.
It has been a while since I've played, but I would like to play this map. I hope it is as awesome as the original !

Hey Dimgora dod_slope is one of my all time favourites obviously, I was hesitant to remake it ,I tried to get permission with no luck email no longer works in old credit text for Janne hirvonen which i assume is you :) I kept all the flags the same and tried to capture your old layout the best I could with a few added twists, This was my very first attempt at any map making of any kind lol .Ive enjoyed it and have a few other projects in the works. Did you also make dod_warsaw & dod_vire ? maybe we could collaborate on one ? if your still mapping.

Yep. I've also done dod_warsaw and dod_vire. I'm still mapping but I dont like to convert my old maps because it takes nearly as much work as it would take to create new one ;) Like I did with verdun, only the name remained the same. And I dont have any old .rmf files because my HDD blew up back in the day ;/

But anyway, I dont mind if someone wants to re-create any of my old maps if they give credit, like you did ;) Just next time give credit to Dimgora instead of <3<3<3<3<3Paw. Havent used that nick / email address for a loooong time.

We played the map on our public server today with a full server. Most ppl did like it but middle and low end system did complain about the low FPS. The only other things was missing textures in the allied spawn building. They are image on the wall. I did download the map after you posted the change. USusally not a great thing since now two version will probably float around and ppl will get the bsp differ from the server.

I did remove it from rotation because the FPS were as low as 12 and make the map not enjoyable for too many ppl.

The map is great and if you could address FPS issue, we would definitly run it in our rotation. it's just lacking some optimisation. Will there be a future release or this one was the final one?

Even with the new download, the overview is still a "checkerboard". Which file is missing?
So far no other complaints form those on the server.

I found the problem on why the overview was not showing.

I had to fix two of your files which were looking for the wrong file.

In the resource\overviews directory, I changed the dod_slope_source text file to this:

"material" "overviews/dod_slope_source" // texture file

So it could find the correct file, it was still looking for dod_slope.

I also fixed the file dod_slope_source.vmt file in the materials\overviews directory to this:

"$basetexture" "overviews/dod_slope_source"

Since this was also looking for the old name dod_slope.

All working now. Thanks.

Note: You can fall into map from Axis building side (where the flag is) by getting on roof (move ladder more to middle of building).

Only a few people had low fps, the majority of players had no fps problems.

Definitely awaiting the few fixes for dod_slope_source, this map is well received.


For dod_stalag13, the flag capture is imminent in DoD. You can have the flag captures in the buildings that the Allied clear.

Cool Stuff !

Just wondering why you name it slope_source, isn't it redundant putting the "_source" part in the name? The map is in source, so it's kinda a given.

3-31-03 UPDATE
Fixed falling off map from ladder to roof exploit moved ladder more to middle . fixed missing textures. Fixed exit for allies spawn & added another door. Also added door to axis and a few other minor changes. FPS also better reworked image scale on textures seemed to help a lot
