Are you guys going to further update this map to update it to Source graphic standards or this is the final version?

The source graphics are just to make the map look good and nothing to do with gameplay in my opinion, we want to keep the fps up and maybe reinact the old feeling of the old map.

Well, I think it will only get better with better graphics, but you don't need to get to the level of default source maps, just update the textures, put some displacements, some more static models, change the lighting a bit and you're set. In the end, just to make this map not looking like a 1.3 map like it does now.

This map is a bit too primitive nowadays. It was okay 4 years ago, but people tend to demand more now. It's simply not very good.

I'll run it for nostalgia's sake for awhile, and since there are still too few Source maps to go around. You did a nice job of recreating the original's look, though.

Maxey you hit the nail on the head we wanted to recreate the feeling of playing 1.3, if only we could get the weapons back the way they were too it would be perfect ;)

Blank walls and empty streets doesn't equal classic gameplay or feel, it just means another map that lacks a feel or aura. Say "classic" all you want, it just means lazy in my opinion.

Then what was the point on porting it anyway? Just keep playing it on 1.3.

LoL Maxey ^^

The problem I'm having with this map is it's titled devastation but the city looks pretty well kept for a war town...Sourcification will add atmosphere to it and therefor bring in the Source players...that is what your trying to do right??? If not label it a DOD:C map :p

I think you guys are being a little harsh on the Mappers. Just remember if it wasnt for them we would still only have 5 same old same old maps to play on.

This was a good and popular map back on old dod so they were kind enough to bring to source. Geesh.....Say thanks and be on your way.

Good job Rangers!! Hey squinty!! keep it up baby but the only thing it is missing imo is the time of day, its way to bright out there and devasation (i cant spell) it was not that bright.

Why are you taking so much notice of source forums then, we all wanna play with better graphics but why should it all be sourcefied to the max, just accept the map for what it is.

Every server it has been on has given good feedback and all veteran dod players approve, so why should we change it :o

Look, you're admitting to us that the map looks crappy, so you're going to get feedback about it looking that way. It may test decently in servers for awhile because people like anything new, but eventually the new-map feel fades and people want something more that your map doesn't have.

Everyone that's said "If you want a HL1 map, make an HL1 map" is 100% correct, and your whining about DoD:S just confirms it. If you don't like the game then just buzz off like you're telling your critics.

What is the point on converting a 1.3 map to Source and then don't update the graphics just enough to not look like a HL1 engine map and still mantain a good performance? It's not that hard, just update the textures, put some more static models, a few to none physic objects - and even then put them on sites where they won't affect the flow of the game.

Check out dod_anvil, it looks as good as any official map and performs well on most systems, maybe even more than the official ones.

I loved this map in 1.3 I will love it again in Source, thanks.

But, does anyone notice it's kind of bland?
