[WiP] STG44 etc.

I've got quite bored of the STG44 to be honest *cough* overpowered railgun *cough* and the skin isn't coming out particularly well (look at the lighting above the trigger - will need redoing). I'm on the fence as to whether I carry on and get it done before starting other things, if theres a demand for it it's more likely to get done tbh. Picture in sig.

I've recently started skinning the K98 too, the wood is pretty much finished if a bit rushed.

Next up I'll be learning to model (gotta finish my old M14) and probably be doing a Carbine skin.

Looks great. Many of the other 'darkened' K98's are not too good. Will it be possible to remove the sling without a modeling program when released?

EDIT: Hehe, I just realized the title says [WiP] STG44 etc. Strangely, I was expecting to see a K98.

The K98 looks great, I can't wait to see the end product. And as ever with me: PleasepleasepleasepleasepleasePLEASE! do world models for these, and throw in some for the Springfield and BAR at some point...!

It isn't really that polished (yet) and I'll most likely be switching to Sproily's K98 so it will change :)

I've been experimenting a bit with Alpha maps on the STG44 (inspired by eSkwaad's Garand), I'm definately going to be including one if I ever finish the skin!

Alright alright! But will somebody please tell me whether a green or blue tint on the metal would be more realistic?

Also, should I make it this dirty (http://files.uzitalk.com/reference/shoots/princeton2004/STG44-1.JPG) too? It almost looks like smoke damage.

Is there any chance of getting a render that roughly shows how it will look from the view model perspective? All models of a gun look the same to me otherwise.

It would be really silly not to have a bayonet on the K98 so hopefully Sproily will be sticking that on soon.

Read the DoD:S Manual:

Secondary Attack (default: MOUSE2)

Many weapons have a secondary attack option. Secondary Attack with an infantry rifle initiates either a bayonet stab or a rifle butt. For MG's, this key is used to deploy the tripod, while sniper rifles use it to activate the scope.

Maybe we should do custom MGs with TRIpods too?

Annnyway, STG44 skin is about 70% done and the K98 is at around 40%.

Ahh, that DoD manual stuff is basically all just a copy and paste job from the original manual. Whoever did it didn't proof read it. I really wouldn't count on rifle melees returning; as soon as Valve realise its wrong, it'll be deleted, just like the bit that used to say that DoDS had contained the British.

I've been away for a bit, sorry :D.

STG44 - I won't finish this old skin, I'll restart it.

K98 - the compile I have doesn't look brilliant; the animations look a little odd. I'll try and catch up with Sproily to discuss what we're gonna do with it, if anything.

The B.A.R. w/ bipod skin is finished (and has been for over a month), the animations still feel a little flat (not as much bumping around when firing). It would be nice to get that fixed before a release, I'll ask PR0PEN.
