There are a few CS:S little models I would like to use in a DOD:S map i have been working on.

I cant get the models in hammer. I tried adding the game info files in the options, but that didnt change anything. HL2 models and textures have been accesible in hammer the whole time. Does anybody know how to do that properly?

Will i have to package these models with the map when I'm done if i do this?

Thanks in advance.

..or just copy them into your dod install and include them in the zip when you release the map.

Pakrat is probably the better way, although when i ported de_inferno to dod, there were some models pakrat wouldn't include so I put them in the zip with the map and included a res file.

How do you copy them into the dod install? Does anybody knwo if this is the best way, or if its a good idea.

Is that even legal to do?

I'ts perfectly legal to include CS:S models in your DOD:S map as long as you don't sell it on!

Use GCF Scape (http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=26) to extract the models from the counter-strike source .gcf file and place them in your "day of defeat/dod/models" directory. If you do not have one, make one!

You will now be able to load them in hammer. When your map is complete and ready for distribution, use Pakrat (http://www.geocities.com/cofrdrbob/pakrat.html) to include the custom files in your .bsp file and make sure you go to file > save. You can probably get away with just hitting the auto button and then adding the overviews, soundcache and graph files. Here is a Video Tutorial (http://www.akilling.org/download/pakrat_tut.zip) on how to use Pakrat.

Good luck, have fun!
