I didn't post this until I had exhausted every link I could find on tutorials. I have checked the Handy Vandals tut and many many others.I have searched more places than you may think and I cannot find anygood tutorial on making trees. I have tried to make them on my own but the results have been not good. Thanks for any help you can give.

there are many ways to make trees, the most common is by creating the trunk and leaves as slanted brushes. Other ways have involved getting it done as a model whilst some recent mappers have chosen to use sprites.

just use the tree models that came with the dod1.0 download.

you can find them in your models/mapmodels dir.

i dunno if he does know how to do that...
but model trees are nice for the visuals and nice for the speeds.
Guess why they were used in every official 1.0 map =/

How do you get those tree models out onto a map?

I saw the various methods of making trees but I would rather just use the models.

Please let me know.

You place a model in your map with a env_model (point entity).

Read this tut:

Clipping models (http://www.mardymouse.co.uk/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=10)

It's about clipping models after you have placed them in your map - but it should give you the idea - theres also a downloadble tut map that you can check out ...

You can get my tree models here if you so wish.

Dont worry about the legal stuff when you click to download, its just something I had to put in as Vavle owns the rights to them now.
