woah! Looks like a great start!

Though, I gotta say that the slideshow thing is really annoying... especially when I can't scroll to see the entire pic. Thankfully there's something such as "View Source" in existance. :p

I can't help but think that this map is just a compilation of different official maps :/

Some parts look nice and detailed, other parts look like they've been made by someone who never mapped before (blocks with 1 texture and a roof)

If it's all handmade by you, nice job.. But try to keep the whole map in 1 rangeof detail, not mixed with 2 extremes..

Fellow Mappers,

TiZ here. I apologize for my delay in posting as I had to wait for the activation to take place. The answer is YES. These are all stock maps from the game. No disrespect was intended at all by doing this. I have been playing Day of Defeat since the days of connection VIA the console. I have also been mapping with Hammer for over a year and have to say that it is nothing short of extremely difficult. I lack the ability at the present moment to create such detailed destructed houses, every map I have tried to build my houses look to pretty and more like a nice town instead of a destroyed work of art. I am retracting the map completely as I do not want to offend the makers of the game. I have nothing but crazy respect for the game developers along with all custom mappers who put out some really cool maps. I will say that I have learned alot by tearing apart the stock maps and will endure on a whole new project. Now that I am a member in the forum I will be seeking help as well as offer tips that I discover along the way. Also on a more personal note. The screen shots were uploaded prematurely as there were placed on my personal site for my Friend to view. I do not want everyone to think that [MG]MurderGrounds members are map hacks or have no respect for the fellow gamer. I simply was getting my feet wet in building a map and did take those houses to use in my map. Again no harm intended and zendungraph has been removed completely from my box. I even removed the .vmf

I want everyone to know that I am an honest gamer and hopefully custom mapper someday.. Well I have to go for now, but I hope you will all understand. Thank you for your kind comments even tho I can only take credit for the layout of the map..........

Very nice B@D!!! GJ

How is game play??? I have over 60 members can play test your map and provide you input and feed back on the map, most of the -=SS=- members have play DOD for over 5 years. Are you entering my DOD:S map contest?

God, kurt, stop spamming it's annoying.
You should just PM these people or make an adervisting thread.

Anyways, Tiz, go hard mate it isn't easy making maps, it takes a while to get used to it and decompiling the offical maps helps to learn but really you can't release this map, it looks 70% copied really.

Personaly I never decompiled a map until after 2 or 3 years mapping, it did help a little, but not a lot. Mainly with tool brushes and how to use them. Read around the Valve Wiki (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Main_Page) it has some extrmely helpful information in there.

Hey ca-chicken-soup,

All the things I’m doing for DOD:S community and I get comments like yours, no appreciation at all.

It’s very disappointing to see and unrewarding feeling… Something good for the community that just takes a few to ruin for the rest. Please keep in mind if you don't have anything good to say, then say nothing. eh......

nobody likes spamming kurt. doesn't matter how important you are. (or think you are for that matter)

Well Kurt, he said that he removed the mapping file etc because most of the things were taken from the stocked maps, and then you ask if it's almost done in an inpersonal copy-paste text to basicly showoff your community work..

Kurt I did not make this map Tiz did but I must admit I took part in the stock map decompiling :( so I too am guilty and very sorry and can assure you all that Tiz and I are walking with our heads down for now but we will be back with some all original [MG] mapping content very soon. we still have more maps coming out and let me stop the copy talk now we will never have anything copied out of any other map ever again  and for entering the mapping contest you must be kidding me you really meant Tiz not B@D man it has taken me forever to get my map workin with just a few things on it I would only lock down last place in that contest how much does that pay? :D

i think its because you were mapping for 2 or 3 years that it did little help. i just recently started mapping and i think decompiling a map helped a ton.

Hey B&D and Tiz,

You guys don’t have to apologize… NP.

I’m not here to prove anything or show off the -=SS=- community, Just trying to encourage and support you guys to keep making awesome DOD:S maps; hopefully we don’t loose more mappers to other mods. -=SS=- members are truly dedicated to the DOD:S game and want to keep the game alive, look at the amount of servers are running now and compare to Sept. 26th 2005. How many are running empty? >>> ¾ of 1200 servers are running empty.

Where are all the players? Why? What happened?

Here is a link to top 50 most active maps, do you see 1 DOD:S map listed on top 50?

http://www.game-monitor.com/topmaps.php?game=all

The writing is on the wall, what are we going to do about it. Little contest and competition is healthy, you might not finish first, but you get to experience the challenge and learn what other mappers can do; also networking with some of the best mappers.

Salute, Kurt

I understand what you're trying to do here Kurt and I do apreciate it, but is it really needed to be so inpersonal to have a copy-paste text and paste it in every WIP thread on this forum? You should try to stick with PM's for this stuff, since you now made a fool out of yourself by asking how far it's done while the author said it no longer exists..

Besides, the reason why dod is still being played to this day is because dod is free, it's classic, it's playable for basicly every computer out there.. I find myself playing dod way more than dod:s, basicly because I've been playing since beta 1.2, and dod:s has changed too much to actually have the same fun factor as dod.. It's all fancy, but some changes made (IS, basicly useless light class, extremely weak and easy target sniper, ...) keep me from actually playing dod:s fulltime.. It's not the community's fault, it's not the fault of custom mappers/modellers/artists, it's all valve's fault, and I'm afraid that a lot of people will keep playing dod, untill dod:s becomes dod again.

Hey Bolteh...

Thanks for your input and support...

1) DOD:S or DOD is only a game and I do have a life, I choose to post in the forum it’s my privilege. >>> regardless how and what I post. It’s my freedom of speech rights.

2) You want share your view of the game, and I can do the same; please be respectful and be nice.

I’m happy with DOD:S, I know for fact Valve just can’t make everyone happy; especially some people can’t adopt to changes well. Yes some people just want everything free in life, it’s time to put something back to the game, support them for a wonderful job they have done with DOD:S. Just like DOD 1.3 valve is fixing the bugs and problems, they are trying their best to fix them ASAP and I'm confident DOD:S will be even better moving forward.

Therefore play what you enjoy, please don’t trash DOD:S because some players are happy with DOD:S. If you want to complaint about Valve or DOD:S, sent them an E-mail or PM them.

Case closed.

Kurt

Bolteh,

I agree that the reason DOD:S servers are not as busy is because people have to pay for the game, and to some extent, because it takes a better computer to run it properly. It may never be quite as popular unless it's free, but it was GREAT to see the servers smoking on DOD:S Free Weekend!

However, I do have to respectively disagree with you on the fun factor. DOD:S is Uber-better man. It takes getting used to, and it needs some patches, but I love it man. I just wish they would make the knife/shovel work a little better...heh.
