Missing materials

A'ight, question time again.

When I take a look at maps after I decompile them to learn from the pros (ie. cs_Militia), sometimes the textures are missing from the brushes. Is this because the paths aren't the same? If so, how do you rectify this issue? I can see the texutres in the folders, but everything is white, even though I have it on "textured" in the 3D view. Cheers.

That would be because you didn't select "CSS" as the game to run Hammer with. It didn't load the proper gcf file.

There are two ways to fix that: Either you pick CSS as the game to map with, or you extract the whole CSS materials folder from the gcf into your dods material folder.

I'd advise against the second way, because you're likely to use them in your DODS mapping afterwards, which will only increase your download size as you'll need to join them to your release.

Most the textures are from the source shared materials gcf file, although there must be some custom ones used in the map as well. When choosing to load from the DoD: Source game configuration, its trying to load the textures from the DoD gcf. So, as Furyo says, its best to select the CSS configuration when loading hammer.

Ahh I see, I wasn't aware of that. Thanks
