Materials (textures) and dods

Sorry if this has already been asked but I've looked in the stickies and can't find it.

I realise materials are the the new textures. But how does you export them into Hammer? To they come in WADs still? How do I get the dods textures into Hammer?

Also virtually all the posts in the tutorial section are out of date now...

Out of date but still useful to HL1 mappers, a lot of them can be applied to HL2 also. As far as textures go you need to add "-beta sdk" to your steam shortcut to be using the beta sdk obviously :P which comes with dod:s config and textures, use keyword "dod" in texture browser and you will see the standard dod:s textures.

hmm I do have '- beta sdk' in the command line. The only dod textures that come up are sky boxes...

you might need to use GCFscape to extract the materials from the dods gcf.

still got the same...

sure you are inputting dod in the keyword box and not the filter one :E??

They need to go in .../day of defeat source/dod/materials, not the sourcesdk_content folder. But if you've followed the tutorials on setting up the sdk for dod:s, they should show up properly anyway. Check you've got the dod:s steamappid set right in the sdk gameinfo.txt.

travis was correct. I was putting it in the filter box
