Hammer no longer working

So since this last update, I can't open up hammer on any game setting anymore. Whenever I try and open it up, I get this error message.

Extra AppID set to 211, but no SteamAppID.

I'm assuming this has something to do with referencing the wrong game, but I don't know how to go about fixing this, anyone having a similar problem?

I'll tinker with it.

You can get hammer to work by opening the gaminfo text file and changing the first line that has SteamAppId 220 to Appid 220.

This isn't a complete fix you'll get a .dll missing error which is fine, but you won't be able to load models into the map, only work on terrain, buildings etc ie brush work.

Valve porked the SDK for the second time in a month or so :(

Well, did that, but still doesn't work. Which gameinfo.txt file am I supposed to be editing?

I would like to thank valve for breaking the sdk for the 2nd week in a row and not fixing it immediately ruining my xmas map release. Learn to test before you release, repeat as many times as it takes before it sinks in. Its kind of sad that this same exact problem can happen 2 weeks in a row.

@Darn Nation - Edit the dod source one only unless you're also mapping for another mod.

@Winners, people on the beta also get this error and more, infact I'd rather use this fix then use the beta sdk cause I can't do much in it for some reason after the update before the one we just got, it fubared something major for me.

This works for most ppl:

1) Close Steam, make sure it isn't running.
2) Right click on the Steam icon and select properties.
3) Find the field that says "Target" go to the end of it (Steam.exe") and put a space and type -beta sdk
4) Start up Steam.
5) Start up the SDK, it should update.
6) Once the update is done in the Source SDK window select "Refresh SDK Content"
7) Once that is complete run Hammer and it should work fine!

I would also like to thank Valve for wrecking the SDK again. And another thing, where's the DOD FGD? Is it so hard to release? You guys used it, why can't we?

Do people seriously not read around the place, if you go on VERC I swear there is like 10 threads one above each other with the same problem and nearly identical thread titles, in like 4 sub-forums.

If all else fails do this

Exit Steam and then delete your "Source SDK" folder (NOT your "Source SDK Content" folder which contains all of your custom maps)

Then restart steam or the source sdk with the -beta sdk command added to your target line

Steam should redownload the entire source SDK and replace any file that was missing or corrupted
