I can find plenty of references to German army rafts, but can anyone find any references of inflatable rafts used by the Western Allies(like the Polish river crossing at Arnhem, or the first waves of Rhine crossings).

Would there be any visual difference between these and the German counterparts?(which were quite long)

I'm going to say that raft is pretty close to any sort of Allied raft. I'd also take a look at the Market Garden episode of Band of Brothers, when the 101st rescues the stranded British.

Try a Bridge Too Far. Plenty of shots of Allied collapsable rafts.

I'll post some screengrabs from A Bridge Too Far when I get a few moments free.

Stupid question but have you tried searching for them as rafts? Pretty sure inflatables are known as dingys. Just did a quick search now and got a fair few replies.

Don't know if this helps. These are probably British boats anyway. Some screenshots from A Bridge Too Far.

Awesome Jed, that was exactly what this thread made me think of. "What did you expect.. destroyers?"

And yes they were British boats, at leats as the story of the movie went.
