[MREL] Devin M1 Carbine convert and M1 Carbine Folding Stock Hackjob

Ok, so heres the story behind this model. I was digging through all of my badly organzied model crap looking for an old carbine, and I found this cool m1carbine P model, decompiled, in its own folder, inside the compiling folder for SS v3.0's axis-medium.mdl. Beats me how it got there, all I know is, it looked like a really nice model. So, I went and converted the P model to a V model, and cleaned it up a little, made some nice new P models to match it, and I liked what I saw.

So, I needed a matching Para carbine with a folding stock. And I can think of only one other custom M1 carbine, Nomad and Polygons. So i ripped his stock and handle off, threw it onto this one, albiet with some serious tweaking.

I was quite pleased with this. Its skin is phenominal, i think it looks very very realistic.

The sounds came from NrvsYet's 3.1 pack. No idea where the mysterious P model came from. Nor why I filed it in my SS v3 folder, which is a clue it must be pretty old.

just import the skin onto Charizards already shouldered Carbine. Although i'm not to fond of this skin itself. from the screenshots, it actually looks uglier and less detailed than the default one. But whatever floats you boat i guess.

The blueing (sp.) is perfect.

The only thing that ever bothers me about these regular, not the folding stock, carbines is the stretch of the metal skin on the back wood stock.

Can that be fixed?

Nah, thats jsut waht happened when people would rather skin detail onto a small mesh than actually model it.

Theres a reason that sound files are included in the zip. Put them in your dod/sounds/weapons/ folder

Nice work dev!

I've been looking for some good replacements for the carbine.

This carbine model is one of the best I have seen. Devin you do excellent work. I was just wondering if you could do something with the metal on the rear portion of the stock. Also, I noticed the bolt is backwards in the rifle. The extractor needs to be up front on the right. I dont model, therefore I dont know how to turn it around. I like your axis replacement models too. I used them in the old dod and now in new one. Do you have any player models for the allies or para models for both. I think your player models are the best out there. Maybe I have overlooked the other models. Please help me out.
