i was wondering.. is there an entity which can change the skin of a player (during gameplay) when he triggers an area for example?
i couldnt find anything in source wiki...

possible use:
there's a detonation near you and you're covered in dust/smoke for a sec.. then the skin changes to a dirty one (when noone can see the change) and you stay that way for the rest of the round/until respawn.

same thing could be applied to every prop ingame..

what do you mean no one can see the change? and im assuming you mean that while you play MP the skin changes? it's probably possible, it could be done the same way blood is applied. and if its in SP you could just change the model to the dirty one.

i mean, since there is smoke and an explosion, noone will see the skinchange when the player triggers that entity. (if well timed)

its meant to be for mp gameplay. it needs to get synced with other players through the server, because if noone can see the new skin, its useless :P

and yes, it would be the exact same system as blood is applied.. only triggered through a level area (triggerbrush) instead of a gun.

same thing happens, if you shoot a rocket onto an wall/model, there's a big burnt decal on that object afterwards.

hmm, you'd have to make your own decal and (im not sure about this part) make it so that within a certain radius of ___________ (trigger/explosion/whatever) that the decal you want is applied, maybe it could shoot invisible debris out and if it hit a certain hitbox the decal would be applied to that area...but that seems like it would require a lot of processor power.

Perhaps something that shoots edited 'blood' onto the player. Not sure if this is possible though. Something along the lines of making a dust overlay then getting it to go onto the player the same way blood is.

I wondered about this aswell. I also wonder, Is there a way to assign custom player models that go with the map? That would be great customization.
