Interesting reference source for models

I was looking for some reference material last night, and stumbled onto card modeling - paper models of things.

I imagine they would be an interesting resource/guide for a model maker as they have the entire object "unfolded" in some ways.

this reminds me of this nice little program!

pepakura (http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/)

works best with lowpoly models.
use those old dod player models for example.

import 3d files, export to printer and start the handcrafting.

I think Blender will work sort of like that Pepakura too.. At least I think it will.. I've never used it myself, but when HL2 first launched there was a massive explosion of people wanting to make paper patterns of the Headcrabs for sewing plush versions.. One guy used Blender to unwrap the models, and print out patterns.. It might be worth a shot too..
