Good idea for a map! Pacific theme

sorry i know nothing about making maps, but if i did i would try to put this idea in motion.

After seeing movies like Thin Red Line, and reading books on the war in the pacific, how come no one has made a map that resembles the jungles. we can substitute japanese w/ nazis it doesnt matter.

if you have seen thin red line i think a map with jungle theme would be great! tall crab grass, lots of foilage.

US can spawn at Hendersons airfeild, and the Nazis can spawn in a camp looking place ( resembling the place where the americans made the final change in Thin Red Line).

in between these two spawn points could be some bunkers built into hills, rolling slopes with tall crabgrass, rivers, trees. (an uphill bunker like place resembling the japanese position where the 7 US army men attacked and took)

Another spawn could be the US spawning on beaches resembling Tarawa (ever seen sands of iwo jima?). lots of crater fox holes and wooder bunkers.

sorry if this idea is very farfetched. its just been on my mind lately, and the gameplay in MOH PACIFIC is nowhere near the DOD gameplay.

The pacific theme should be a whole other mod..... not just a different map.

i dont see why. it'd be a nice change, with a bunch of custom player kits and stuff it could be even more convincing. im getting kinda sick of the usual generic "small european village"

Yeah I hear ya.....it seems that everyone is striving to make the same type of map (small french village). Although there are so many settings that have yet to be exploited by the mappers in the dod community. If you go back and play medal of honor you might find some inspiration: submarine docks, secret weapon labs, airfields, naval stations, trainyards, etc....and all this is totally possible within the source engine. We just need some fresh maps is all.

We've got some people in our clan working on maps that have a different feel to them.

The problems are:

- Inexperienced mappers = slow & tedious
- New style and environments = a ton of custom support files
- Lack of SDK/FGD

But aside from those things (haha) we have some really cool maps in the works. Varying sizes and styles, so I'm pretty excited about them.

i thought a great map would be based on the movie 'bridge over the river kwai (spelling?). That was a great movie and if brits are added in, it be a really cool map to try out. Having to demo a large bridge with some jungle foliage :)

The Bridge on the River Kwai (http://imdb.com/title/tt0050212/)

One of my favorites.
