dont think so... if I read right.. GCFscape is only to view the gcf files content... i.e. stock models etc

Try reading the big sticky called Where to put custom models/skins (http://www.dayofdefeat.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55342)

Go to steam ---> steamapps ---> your e mail folder ---> day of defeat source ---> DOD
inside DOD folder is where all your custom files go and they will over ride the GCF IF placed correctly. you may need to create the appropriate folders if they arent included in the install files. If you need to create one then the Read Me`s usually tell you what is needed. FOr source, skins and models usually go in the materials folder. inside materials is folders such as models, sprites etc.
If you have simply a v model for the kar you go
F:\Software\Steam\SteamApps\your@email.com\day of defeat source\dod\materials\models\weapons\v_models\k98

Yes, yes I can.

Find your local computer geek and have them do it for you.

If you download a german player skin you would make the folders necessary and put the .vtf and .vmt etc files into a dir that looks like this:
C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\username@xyz.com\day of defeat source\dod\materials\models\player\german\

You want to make folders, not files. To do that, click the right mouse button, scroll down to "new", then select "folder".

Name the new folder appropriately, ie what others have said above. Step by step...

1: open your Steam folder
2: Open the Steam Apps folder
3: Open the folder with your email on it
4: Open the day of defeat source folder
5: open the dod folder
6: find and open the folder titled materials
7: If you are installing a Player model, open the folder called player. If it's not there, create it as I said above. Open, and create/open folders for the skins you are replacing.
--weapons or other models--
8: open the folder titled models. If it's not there, create it as I said above
9: if your installing a weapon, look for/create a folder called weapons. Open.
10: Look for/create a folder with the weapon you are replacing.
11: place file in folder.

Thats about as simple as I can say how to do it.
