What's the hold up?

Day of Defeat Source has been out for over a month now, and still no sign of the FGD. Why don't we have it?

Perhaps one of the devs could enlighten us to VALVe's mysterious ways.

End of the month was the last I heard as well, that date was from an interview with a Valve employee..

Saying that, its now past the end of the month. Although I notice that Valve usually update steam towards the end of the week..

Here's hoping!

Technically speaking, you can't have a "hold up" if no firm date was ever given. Anecdotally speaking, I smell something cooking in the next two weeks.

What exactly are they doing to the SDK that is causing this delay.

HDR Tools, whatever they may be. I also heard of multiple improvements to Hammer, which have been ongoing for the past 6 months, but no idea as to what they are and whether or not we'll have them with this update too.

There is no delay w/o a firm release date.

I honestly think they are developing a small map to release with the sdk. Something simple like de_cobble where they dont mind you having the source map.

Also - PickItUp (dev team) said that 2 maps were in development and one is nearing completion in the general forum about a week ago in some random thread.

It is my belief the fgd will come with that map. No proof or evidence though, just a hunch.

Valve also stated content for CS & DoD source are both getting content additions after lost coast. So things are picking up behind the scenes no doubt. I certainly can be patient, considering my angst to get dod source in the first place.

Hammer needs alot of things fixed, theres bugs with the displacement tools, you can't chop up certain sided spheres into 1/4's and god heaps of other things. It'd be good to see hammer improved because we all know how slow its gotten. I check my task manager sometimes to see how much system resources hammer uses and it gets up around 100,00k sometimes :(
