Well, I found the texture tutorial:

That's the wall behind my computer... took a picture, then used the tutorial to figure out how to make it seamless...

Have any of you guys done this?

Yes, many times. Its quite easy once you get the hang of it. Ive converted many huge 1200x1200+ stock photos into seamless textures. It can get hairy.

My only recomendation is patience, just like mapping. Dont expect 100% perfect results the 1st time.

It does take skill but is quite handy to know. By the way you did a pretty good job on yours, use 1 more pass with the clone tool to take out that 1 repeating area.
