Those are the prettiest things I have ever seen. They all look simply amazing. Good job DoD team.

Yes indeed.

I think the new player models totally blow the models we have now outta the water. Unless you're looking for specific gear or camo, these look much better.

A couple of nitpicking cosmetic changes that should be made...

#1. The sergeant classes with the pouch on their chest is a little consuing. Usually, the ammo pouch was held on the hip - ala the 3.1 default sergeant model. I don't know why it's on their chest.

#2. The holsters are backwards. They need to be flipped horizontally to be in the correct position.

#3. The leggings have laces on the insides and outside. Mostly due to the meshing of the skin. The laces should only be on the outside.

#4. The Allied W and P models need to be outfitted with the snazzy triggers that the new British rifles have. The M1 Garand P model from the screenshot, currently, looks like a toy gun without a trigger.

Other than that, they are gorgeous.

This totally raises the bar for modelers to compete with, which for us ppl taht d/l the models is a good thing :D

Higgins, I trust that you and Vandori will release a 3rd ID pack with the new models and fix any errors there...right? :)

And I think the P and W models they're showing are out of date. The V models themselves aren't the new ones except for a few couple or so. As least, they don't look new.

I cant wait to see the new models in-game, the screenshots look awsome so far. Its a huge leap from the old beta days.

Yeah, I love these new models. They look simply amazing. I donīt think I will need custom skins anymore... :p

Well custom skins will certainly not be the first thing I do on the new version, think I'll actually play it!

That's a first.

That's great to hear, Higgins! :)

And the old site and forum is still there for me. I'm thinking that Monday is when they'll be gone. I've got about 100 threads I gotta read so I better get a move on.

Does anyone know if the new graphics and skins will be harder for an older graphics card to run? 3.1 runs fine on my computer, I hope it doesnt lag with the new high quality stuff :(

04-26-2003, 10:53 AM
When you say lag do you mean as in..Connection lag or as in Choppy (fps)

Cause i hear this alot and i do not get what ppl mean... Where im from.. ppl say that its "choppy" saying that there frame rates are low...

Or can the detail of the mod actually give you lag (ping problems)

04-26-2003, 10:56 AM
They said that 1.0 would be even less computer intensive than 3.1, so it should run even better with this new stuff. As for the models, the player models look great, and I'm hoping we'll see a P and W model pack released shortly after 1.0 comes out (ala 2 krauts). Hell I'd even do that if I didn't see it done.

The player models use 512x512 skin, if your card can't handle it goes to default 256x256.. if it can, you see a much more clear skin.

If you have an ATI based card (that should be able to handle 512x512 skins), you may need to add the line

"gl_max_size 512"
to your "autoexec.cfg" file (open it up in notepad) in your HL/DoD folder.

I use gl_max_size 512 on dod 3.1 right now ;)

a lot of custom models use 512 textures too :)

Yeah there should be an option in the ingame menu to turn it off or on.
