Quick question about sprites and Steam

It's been a long time since I've messed with DOD, and I just got around to putting 1.3 on my new system.

Last time I played, I'd put my custom sprites I made into my C:Games\Sierra\half-life\dod\sprites folder. Now with Steam, that sprites folder is inside a .gcf file.

I downloaded GCFScape, which opens them and lets you extract things, but not add them. How do I go about getting a custom sprite into the .gcf?

I sure hope it's not impossible now. One thing I loved about DOD was being able to customize everything, especially sounds and sprites.

Thanks for any help.

You dont add them to the GCF, just note the directory in the GCF, then make the directory in your DoD S folder (If you dont already have it)

Eg: \day of defeat source\dod\materials\sprites\obj_icons

is where the objective icons are located in the GCF,

Just make this folder in your DoD S directory and put your custom content there

Was gonna make a thread but saw this about the sprites. Few questions:

1. Sniper Scope:

I changed the sniper scope on the KAR got the 4 vtf files and basicly edited 1 and just rotated it round saved it as the right side then bottom right then bottom left etc etc came out well ingame but the problem ive got is one of the lines on the scope is slightly smaller than the other side, not sure how this happened cause they are all the same image just rotated to the 4 sides etc.

2. Ive changed the muzzle flash on the weapons but it seems only the muzzle flash on the MG42 has changed, is there some more muzzle flashes somewhere?

Thanks in-advanced.
