Anyone have any idea how these maps were released?
BOTH of these maps have WORKING spawns, and WORKING FLAGS.

Either way, snow_battlefield is a pretty interesting map...

And I like dod_omaha_v1.. pretty good for the first DODS beach map to ever be released: 1 Screenshot (http://www.csbanana.com/images/maps/maps_1128380000_1475330784_a.jpg).

Here's the download links and the description I put on my site (http://dod.kinetikproze.com/othermaps/index.html):

Beach map. 3 Axis bunkers. 4 flags - 1x 2-man Allies cap, 1x 2-man Axis cap, 2x 3-man cap.
Note: I zipped this myself. So this map may not be complete... but I assume it uses default textures.
dod_omaha_v1 (http://dod.kinetikproze.com/othermaps/dod_omaha_v1.exe) download

A very large valley area. Fog half-way up the top of the mountains. 4x 1-man flag caps (I think).
Note: I downloaded this from another site. So the .rar file should be complete.

my flags work fine too. I suppose these maps were made using the beta fgd (or the new valve one). Who made these maps anyway? Could be custom releases by Waldo for all we know?

The only problem I heard about Omaha is it doesn't have spawn protection, so axis just run the beach up and down and destroy everything....

You got flags working in source? Did you use the beta fgd or a custom one?

edit: does the soundcache folder go in the maps folder on the server? and for sv_downloadurl is a res file required or will it auto pull the files off my website?

yeah it's the beta fgd, afaik the only thing it doesn't have is the HDR. Actually I think it does, but only partially... env_tonemap_controller is there, but there's some more work with logic_relays and I'll wait for the final release to get that.

Other than that it works like a charm.

Now that the .97 version of Vmex is out, you can decompile dod source maps and learn more about hdr that way. On Anzio for example, the logic_relay entity is on the church plaza. There are also lots of illusionary brushes in front of all windows.

I don't know about what files are needed on servers, or how to allow download. I take it a res file will be required for sure. My soundscapes script works on my end, that's certain but that's all I know about sounds so far.

There are currently several good maps out now that are ctf and working good.
More then just these 2.

Does anyone have a copy of the beta fgd I could use?

Also does anyone know where I can find info on source sv_downloadurl and soundcache file structure as well as res file requirements and what's needed?

If the devs want to post it, they'll do it. I won't share it. sorry

Just go join a server that has the map running omaha, there are a few of them.

Another good ctf ive seen is called castle.
Its not great graphics, but its great for ctf.

A great tdm map ive seen is called powcamp.

I have all 3 of these running on my server 209.246.142.155

These 3 are definately the best 3 out so far.

Understandable Furyo. I think we can do some great stuff if this was released, if there are any devs on this thread can we please have the beta fgd. IMO for those that have it great, we are getting some custom stuff, but we could really be getting alot more done with the proper files. I apologize for asking, maybe I shouldn't, and maybe no one cares, but I have stuff thats RFR if I can get the fgd. Thanks.

yeah, I'd love to see some pics of omaha.
I'm not too impressed with the screenshots of battlefield. not that there is anything really wrong with it, but it is very, VERY plain.

hows the gameplay on it?

For the love of Pete, someone please tell me what the .res file would be for these maps!!!

I'm having issues with ResGen and Source and I don't know what to do with Source .res files!!!

"resources"
{
"maps/dod_omaha_v1.bsp" "file"
"maps/graphs/dod_omaha_v1.ain" "file"
"maps/soundcache/dod_omaha_v1.cache" "file"
}

this is what I did, no minimap though.

Thanks man. I ended up going to Nipper's website and getting the .res for his CS:S map de_westwood.

I had:

"resources"
{
"maps/dod_omaha_v1.bsp" "file"
}

I didn't know to include the .ain and .cache. Kudos!

ROFL @ dod_omaha_v1 :D

I had a great time on it... finally a map that you can run onto the beach and shovel snipers in the landing craft.

The map is so wide across I just couldn't make out my teammates icon.

Must remember... Germans are the ones running DOWN the beach... don't shoot at them.

Sorry about that whoever you were :D

I've had a chance to run around both of these maps now, and I've got to say I'm not impressed.
snow is just plain empty. it looks like the guy spent all of 1 day making it, maybe less.

omaha has potential but it is unfinished and simple atm. no thought seems to have been given to the routes, and the back concrete bunker(?) looks like he ripped a level right out of HL2, complete with graphitti. guys please remember that these bunkers may be old now, but in WWII (when the game is supposed to be happening) they were new. there wouldn't have been any graphitti. not to mention the lack of spraypaint.

both need 3d skymaps badly.

if you're looking for something new to run around in, then I guess these fit the bill, but if you want a well designed map that adds to the playing experience, keep looking. two thumbs down. :(

See, I tend to disagree, at least partly, Josh. While Omaha is very basic and the gameplay is weak, it's acceptable until the FGD is released and you guys can start putting out better maps.

I was so sick of the 4 maps and the other "customs" out there that an actual objective-based DoD beach map works great for me. It's not that bad to play, but the tactical layout is weak indeed.

As for dod_snow_battlefield.....I truly enjoy it, regardless of it being an early release. I'd enjoy it even if it was released 6 months from now.

Granted, it has skybox errors that will drive map making purists crazy......but they don't affect the gameplay in the least to me. I don't even notice them unless other mappers point them out to me. I love the mountains and the clouds, and even the bunker system. It could have more cover in the center area, or at least shorter runs from cover to cover, so that the Snipers don't have such an easy time, but no map is perfect I guess.

It's really effective and exciting to flank, since the mountains are so large and rocky, and then the clouds conceal you nicely.

It may be too heavily reliant on sniping, but I just consider it a fun and different way to practice my scope skills, since I almost NEVER use a scoped rifle until I get to this map.

Kudos to the mapmaker, but as with anything in life, there can always be improvements. More detailed and better tactical maps, but at least for now we have something to play other than Avalanche for the 500millionth time.

Omaha seems to be just "Hey, look at this model, it's cool and DoD, I'll spam it 40 times on my map!" Instead of balancing out different items in the map, they just overkill the few models they got to work.

dod_omaha = antlion beach from HL2 :-D yup it is. the part after you get the antlions.

snow_battlefield is an awsome map, and you can really notice how well you can snipe with the garand / KAR on it. i was taking out snipers with both of them morethan they were getting me. awsome map.

Here (http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/DoD_Source_Dod_Omaha_Map;48264) you can download the map as well as view some pics. I havenīt played the map yet but it looks like itīs fun to play. It only needs a good background.
