Hi, im looking to make a weapons mod.
I have done this before for other games (mohaa).
But im not familiar with this game.
I'm not wanting to add weapons or anything, just change the balistics and such of the existing weapons.
Can anyone tell me which files i need to look at and what programs i need to edit them?
Thanks in advance for anybodies help!

You can't do that with DoD.

Weapon balistics and properties are hard coded into the game.

if you have a license for the Source engine, maybe, otherwise no.

Theres mods that restrict weapons and exclude weapons in this game. So there must be a way.
For css and hl2 there are also weapons mods.

you have to remember that those server-side mods don't change the way the weapons work, just how many there are available.

I'm not talking about just limiting the weapons.
There are mods that add and change the weapons for this game!
Just do a google search and you will see what comes up.
There are mods out there.
So its possible.

Most of the mods simply change weapon sounds, models or textures. None of them have any effect on ballistics or weapon performance.

Those that existed for DoD 1.3 were usually fairly complex AMXX or MetaMod plug-ins and usually worked by brute-forcing and messing with client/server data as it passed between the player and the server.

Either way, you can prevent a user from using a weapon and in some cases make them spawn with a different one but you can't add new weapons without considerable difficulty, access to source code and even then they don't work in the same way as the default ones.

Feel free to try, but I suspect you wont be very sucessful.
