Every map I download is just the BSP. Are all the models, sounds, etc.. including in the BSP now or do these maps just not have any?

Most of the maps you will download will have been made using CS Source Textures. My guess is (And I'm not 100% certain of this) is that the maps were all made using the textures that come pre-packaged with the GCF so the source engine and DoD will just extract the ones it needs from there. Source uses a different format for textures (now called materials) and I doubt there are too many custom ones flying around, atleast for the DoD Community.

Hope this helps.

Either they were bspzip'ed into the bsp file, or all those maps use shared source textures (you have a gcf named source textures and another one source models).

Yes most of them appear to be CS:Source and HL2 Deathmatch conversions.

Which leaves me with another question. In HL1 I could bring a BSP up in notepad and easily edit any entity. In HL2 MODs the entities are strewn about and have UNIX style returns in them. Is there an easy way to edit entities in a HL2 MOD BSP?

Obviously people are doing it or their wouldn't be all these maps converted to DOD:S already

Actually the two maps I downloaded had two files, one is the BSP, the other was dod/maps/graphs/ .ain files.
