How can I use the DOD:S textures? Does anyone know?

you will need to wait until the dod fgd is released through steam. this allows u to use all material related to dod, to properly make custom maps. so junk like props (models), textures, and ofcourse the entities.

if you wanted to go to a great deal of trouble you can use the textures but it isnt worth it, map in hl2 and replace the textures with the SDK additions for dod:s are out.

You can create a new mod under modtool and copy all of the dods materials to the new mod's material folder or you could copy them to one of the current game's directories such as hl2dm or css but you should just wait for the FGD to be released

Problem with that solution is all those textures would be considered custom textures by hammer once you map under the proper DoD Source FGD, so you'll be left with a lot of errors in hammer, and you'll need to retexture everything.

Be patient.

Some (SOME) of the CSS textures work, try em'.

i'm using the dod:s textures and models, i started putting window and door frames, furniture etc in some of the houses in my beach map last night. extract the materials and models folder from the dod:s gcf to the hl2dm or cs:s folder and just use them. you won't have to retexture everything, hammer works using the base directory for each game. as long as you keep the paths correct, you should just have to load the map using the dod:s fgd and everything will work fine.

got a question closely related to this.. :)
is it possible to tell Hammer to use 2 .gcf's at once.. like when i open the texture browser in Hammer it would show me both the CS:S and HL2 materials.
i can't seem to get it setup like that and couldn't find any help in the SDK docs either :(.

i know i could extract materials from one gcf and put them in the other game's folder, but just using 2 gcf's seems to make more sense.
