Error Hl model viewer

Hi iam trying to make my own skins, iam a noob at this so bear with me..

i export the texture to paint... then inport my own texture into the space were it was, makeing sure to keep the right size then i press save but when i try and inport it it errors :(

whats the right way to do it and are there any tutorials ?

make sure the texture you import is 256 colour and the same size plus a .bmp

ahh 156 colour this might be were iam going wrong.. /me goes to try again

:) yay it works..

now is there away to edit texture wads ? like if i wanted to get rid of them masty pink walls on avalanche could i make a replasement ?

if there is a wad in your dod directory thats named something like Avalanche.wad then yes. Sometimes the textures are in the bsp file itself so you can't. You'll need a wad editing program. I use Wally i think its chumbasoft or some such name. Anyway you open the file in there and then you'll have a browser window on the left and a preview on the right. Go through the list of files and find the texture your looking for. Open that texture and copy it to your clipboard then paste it into your image editor. Edit how you wish then make it 256 colors again and copy it on your clipboard. Paste over the original in the wad and hey presto your done. (make sure to save :rolleyes: )
