This splash screen was made by another DoDec member, Fearless Leader. He used a Band of Brothers style font. Enjoy :)

cool i would download it if custom screens wouldnt be limited to 800x600, but its a great idea and functional aswell.

I WANT THAT FONT!

If I didn't have my kids as my desktop, I would use this. Rarely do I see a desk top I would actually use, most are good, but this has something to it. Very nice. (kind of reminds me of that 1980's TV show "Tour of Duty" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092468/)

I could be very wrong, but I am pretty sure it is just a normal everyday font with a nice splash job over it and the bars added with a paint bucket and the marqe.

K, after about 20 minutes with fighting with the download site, I got it. (holy cow, I didnt realize how insanely cumbersome it is to make one of these, slicing it takes more time than the actual picture, I am sure.)

I found this in the readme:

"[ For anyone who is curious, the proper font for the 'Band of Brothers' wordmark is "Compacta" but it must be purchased. ]"

That's surprisingly brilliant.

Its actually insanely easy if you use Photoshop and just set the correct grid size. Then its just a matter of copying and pasting the grid sections into new images.
Takes 5 minutes tops if you have an image ready.

What I think he meant was that in Photoshop, one could make something like this easily. While it's not the most complicated of things, overlapping is a pain in the arse to get right, I've tried it already myself. Though, if he thinks it that easy how come he's never released one?

Thanks for posting that ez, I'm using it:D

I find that just applying several "New Guide" lines on the finished image, then selecting each square with the rectangular marquee tool is a better approach.

Because it is that easy, and fyi I have released material in non-DoD communities.
