I just thought I should post some pics of my current work. The layout is about complete but Im working on some minor changes to improve the rspeed i some areas and ofcourse the looks. The light should be really early morning in the norwegian mountains. Its not quiet there yet but Im working on it.

Story:
The US para troops has just landed in the harbour and the alarm has sounded in the Axis barracks located outside the small fishing village. The german tanks crews are rushing to warm up their tanks, a platoon tigers station there in order prevent the capture of the secret weapon factory. The german guard platoon must hold the paras back untill the tigers are warmed up. The paras must destroy the tigers and capture the secret weapon factory.

The map is far from complete yet so keep it in mind... suggestions of improvement is appreciatet. :D

Looks good.

but your lighting is way to dark: you should make it much brighter.

Also, it's very "clinical" as you know what I mean: give it some rubble, craters, destroyed buildings a bit more "wartorn" look.
I also don't have the feeling this is set in 1944. It could as well be in 1990.

anyway: it does have potential. It needs some work and finishing touch to get that magical spark!! Keep up the good job!!

Thanks for the input. Yeah it is yet to clinical but it isnt supposed to be wartorned, I dont think norway was hit pretty much at all? Except for a few bombraids perhaps...but the village is a civilian target... anyway I will be adding more street rubble later on...

Any ideas how to make more 40:s then ?

you can never make a map too dark, if its at night-time its bound to be dark. I love night maps, it makes it much harder to spot people.

However, I would say that the lighting does not match the colour of the sky, it needs making a bit more orange/blue if you know what i mean ;P

Very neat so far. Kinda of a fuzzdad like map in that it's very "outside the box".

I agree with Inch, in that it could use some touch-ups. Along with a more consistent texture theme.

Keep working on it...much potential.

Work with the terrain. Add some rubble or little hills or something like other guys suggested.

The lighthouse photo made me think of that old TFC map, Tiger.

yeah good work, but i think that everything being flat, seems to be...not interesting. But like i said, its still nice...

The axis will never igure out the objective of that one!

Anyway the lighting is fine dont listen to them

But some more destruction would be nice

ever played dod_sicily way back in 1.3??

It was a sort of island-rock with on top a lighthouse that was one of the objectives.

IMO, the town looks kinda colonial-style. But that's ok. I love the Yanks and Redcoats.

About the lightning, its actually blue/grey light Im using but I thinking of changing it into more orange/red to match the sky better. Im not very experienced with lightning so I have to test my way through it....

Well, when it comes to the cleanlyness I basicly build the layout of the map first and then add what ever I can in order to keep the rspeeds down. Im not going to add anything blowup, I dont think it will fit the story or the map...

No, I havent played dod_sicily. I came in to the scene a few weeks before 3.0 was released and became hooked pretty fast... The Lighthouse thingy came into my mind when I was experimenting with some lightning and helping some other guy with getting a func_rotation to work....

Ill see if I can post some new shots in the end of the next week...
