Release: DoD 3.1 Maps

Well, these are the 3.1 maps (the ones that still work). Nothing new. All repacked in separate .zips, with all needed mapmodels, sounds and stuff. Doing it for the lazy ones to copy/paste em theirself, and the 1.0 newcomers.

Hmm nice show, allready posted them last week :rolleyes: , I even worked out dod_seg3 and dod_cr44_b3.
Like I said it isn't that hard, make a clean install of dodv1.0. Put any map you want in your maps folder and start to add some missing models and stuff. Most maps will work with v1.0 after you have finished.
Make sure you remove the files you added before you do this same thing with another map. That way you can keep track of which files are missing.

We have some of these maps running on the Kustom Kettle along with some custom 1.0 maps...

didn't that map die with v3.0?? Because it didn't had an info_player_start?? I don't think it could be re-released since the author lost the original RMF as I recall correctly.

But even if one did alter it: I hope he has the much needed permission from the author. (wasn't that kami?)

Those .zips contain many missing files...

Good luck in locating them...I never knew 3.1 stock maps were actually missing files.

Example? dod_koln is missing a .wav file...

We didn't know this until we tried to release them like some other sites are "attempting"...but...we're not releasing partial maps.

You would just think a stock map would contain all the files necessary for proper operation...go figure...

Well dod_seg3 works just fine so ... and about dod_cr44_b3 you can indeed find it on HoustonDoD like mentioned before.

Yes...

on my site...files are tested for completeness, proper functioning, etc. before we "certify" them 1.0 compatible.

We're approaching the end of testing the entire assortment of 3.1 maps we hosted previously (over 340 maps). I've got an entire list of maps that need to be recompiled to run with 1.0...

Sadly...as we don't edit other people's work...we must pronounce those dead. However, we'll be adding a map or two a day for the next couple of weeks...until we've gotten everything up that will work properly under 1.0.

In the meantime...feel free to roll the dice elsewhere ;) There are many sites hosting broken files that aren't even aware of it...especially a new site that's working real hard to be bigtime ;)

heh heh...the webmaster said he spent hundreds of dollars putting it together...and the site is donated by a gameserver company ;) oooooooooooh...hehehe...I kill me...my sides are hurting.......er, ok...not really...but the guy is very amusing...

Hmm, yes.
Koln and Zafod had missing files. Fixed it for zafod. Theres still one file, craaack.wav missing for koln, nowhere to be found... :\

The craaack.wav isn't essential for dod_koln to be played. I tried very briefly to find it, but didn't see it anywhere. As far as I can remember I never ever seen it, but maybe an ol' skool developer can shed some light on that .wav.

I thought it died way back with 1.3b. 2.0 didn't have it as far as I can recall. And yeah, Kami was the mapper. I loved those old 1.3b maps, they had a nice feel to them (although that could just be nostalgia or something) :D

Heh wish i could play on custom but CD mix with my Blackice and defender programs :( took me 3 weeks to tweak PB enough to play RTCW ET and it runs semi slow for me The old maps rock :) Charlotte [Me109] will be running them along with other maps and our big server San antonio t3 will be running em when we get a steady player base

I played dod_dog1_a04 yesterday in 1.0- it was really rubbish! I thought it was an update... arggh! I was mislead.
