Hi!

I tried to change the skin on Splinter's K43 too the default ones (not sleeves/hands though) but the wood gets this large "crack" in the middle.. how can I fix this??

Did you decompile/recompile or just import/export?

IIRC I decompiled the default 1.0 one and then imported the textures to splinters.. should I do it any other way?? or do I have to use some fancy modeling program??

Importing textures should work. Only problem would be if the UV maps aren't 100% lined up.

compare the texture your importing with the texture your replacing and see if the edges of the texture are the same. One may have a slightly larger overlap to allow for UV creep.

You can use my version of HLMV to view the actually UV layout if you need to.

does it have anything to do with the fact that you need to resize the stock bmp to fit on splinters?? the same "crack" also appears when reorigin the default model (first time I saw it, applies to the default tommy too)

EDIT: there's one difference on the edges of the skin1.bmp and that is that SPLinters is darkish on both edges while the default one has "wood-texture" all the way to the edge.. anything to do with that (i.e. on stock on left edge has wood textures and right edge is black) the pattern when selecting "show UV map"+"overlay UV map" seems to be identical...

The two textures need to be the same size and textured for the same UV layout.

As mentioned, UV "creep" from decompiling and recompiling can cause the UV to shift slightly so it falls off the edge of the textured parts.

You can either decompile the texture and edit/resave the SMD to nudge the UV back , edit the texture itself nudging it to compensate for the shift or fill in the gaps with colour to hide the black edge.

well somehow when I exported the skin1.bmp from the stock k43 and then rezised it in paint shop pro and imported it to splinters k43 it somehow worked!!

so now I have a nice k43 with beautiful anims that aint killing my FPS..;)
