I didnt plan on releasing another version of this map but it plays well and im quite pleased with it, so i though i might as well finish it before DOD:S comes out.

The gameplay is simialr to b2, the only difference is the cap time for the middle flag is 15 seconds instead of 20.

Most changes are visual, ive changed a few textures and added more of a 'background' to the map so it looks a lot better.

It comes with an overview and .res file. r_speeds are pretty low, wpoly rarely goes above 600 and epoly is generaly between 2500-5500.

Not bad, but I think you could improve on the roofs.

Thanks for the comments.

I did align some of the roof textures better after i took the pics (i noticed they werent right when i uploaded the pics) so the tiles are pointing in the right direction now.

Im not gonna update this map again, so if you still dont like the roofs all i can suggest is you run around the map looking at the floor :D

15 secs for a cap is VERY long ...
the map looking very plain and old fashion like in the early betas.
work on the details of the map ... make it look newer

Oh, it's not the textures, it's the geometry itself, roofs aren't normally perfectly aligned with the vertices of the houses, they should peek out a little on the sides, like in this example pic:

I see your point... infact i think this is the only map ive made without an overhang on the roofs :kitty:

15 secs isnt that long of a cap, well its longer than any cap in a standard map i believe. It just creates a different style of play. It takes time to cap the bridge flag and there is very little cover so you really have to work for it. I prob should have mentioned in the first post its a 3 flag map, the other 2 are in the building to the right of the spawns on the ground floor.

Blame haircut..

Yeah thats cos i cant texture myself out of a paper bag.
It doesnt look too much like old dod maps, since it uses models for bushes/trees/grass rather than brushes.

I ran around it a bit, I like it. theres not enough really small maps. I don't think the texture work looks bad. although the roof thing looks odd, you'll probably never notice it while playing. should be interesting to see how a map this small plays with a full server. with that many people playing it might be impossible to hold the bridge for 15 sec, tho.

If you want to try some more small/tiny maps come play on the mardymouse server (thats why i said blame haircut ;))

We tried it when the cap was 20 seconds and both teams did win a couple of times. (on a full 16 man server)

Its certainly not impossible to cap (especially at only 15 seconds), but it is hard... which is whats intended.

This is on the MardyMouse server now, so if anyone wants to try it go to 82.138.241.102:13372 subshock.com | MardyMouse.co.uk Public Server and bug an admin to put it on :D

Guess what i bloody did

Only put the b2 bsp in the zip instead of the finished version.

So, as ive f'd it up already, im gonna recompile the map with an overhang on the roofs, then re-upload it.

The bsp will have the same name, so anyone that has downloaded it already, please delete the one you have.

The real final version is now uploaded :)

Ive added a few more details (cos i cant resist fiddling) and overhanging roofs for Maxey.

Please redownload the map, this version looks far better than b2

Is the frame rate really 18 fps?

Scuzz

No, i took the screen shots in less than optimal conditions... my laptop was getting to the point where it needed a format and i couldnt run HLSW or wmp at the same time as dod without getting a huge drop in fps.

In otherwords, its not a laggy map... unless you want to play it with an on-board graphics card;)
