Need models from steam

Ive been mapping with the 'ol pre-steam DoD, using the WADs and models from it, but it lacks quite a few of the cool new models like the grass and the windows. Is there some way I can take them out of that compressed DoD file in my steam folder? Or perhaps get them from a website somewhere? I just need normal models to put in and perhaps change later, I just need to see how it looks before I go hunting for the right model. Can anyone out there can help me?

Also, is it legal to release maps using the offical WADs and models? It would save on having to download the WADs and models for the map, Although I guess I'd have to update the map with every release of DoD...

pffft that aint no hamster:hamster:

use em... everyone else does.

to get them just get a version of GCFscape and open dayofdefeat.gcf and extract the models/sounds/sprites/wads you need
