Alright I would like to rename the old dod_berlin45 to dod_panzer however I have no mapmodels of Panzers..if anyone could point me to one of these I would greatly appreciate it..

Also how do you actually make a collision mesh? For all of my env_models I'm having to just make a square func_wall with a transparent texture and its really annoying because its not at all accurate to where the model ends, any help would be greatly appreciated..

First, the name dod_panzer is already taken I believe.

The panzer models can be found in your dod/models/mapmodels folder, but first, you'll need to extract them with GFCScape or with the latest version of HLMV.

Third, to make "collision meshes", or model clipping as its usually called, you should have the hlbasics.wad, though any texture will do. You also need to have VHE 3.5 which supports model viewing.

Selefct the appropriate texture from the hlbasics.wad (metal in this case), and make a normal brush with this texture to cover the model. You'll probably need more than one.

Use the clipping tool to carve your brush into the shape of the model. You might not get the right angle or shape on the first try, so you can move the verticies into the right position. You of course, need the model viewing to see how your brush compares to the model.

You dont have to make every single detail. Also, some parts of the model you might not be able to clip because of invalid brushes.

After you are done, select the brushes and make them a func_wall, with additive, 0.

A while ago, someone made a "model zoo". A lot of models, all with clipping. Some of them arent clipped very well though, so you should try to do it yourself.

I know about extracting and such however, I cannot find any panzer models, only tigers and shermans..

EDIT- I found a Panzer but it's in a desert camo form..I see no standard gray panzers

Also would it be appropriate to name the map dod_panzer2?

Wow is it just me or is it extremely hard to clip a model?

Keep looking, because there is one.

It might have the prefix "hk_", but I'm not sure.

I'm pretty sure this is what your looking for. I have it sitting in my mapmodels folder. It can be easily re-skinned.

**edit: model now taken down**

If you extracted your entire mapmodels folder, you should have had it.

I didn't have it, I extracted dod/models which includes all of the mapmodels and it wasnt there, you probably had it from a custom or something

Yes ... clipping models is hard. This might help:

Also, some parts of the model you might not be able to clip because of invalid brushes.

lol ... that made me laugh. Sorry Dwin, no offence ment :kitty:
