Nice render.... really didn't like the real thing. Hate the default model.

i remember someone saying (maybe splinter himself) he wouldnt use renders, he´s just too leet. a render wouldnt make it look better.

this cant be topped, i love the magazines!

overall nice, animations had something to be desired, the firing animations are nice, however, the reload is completely different as far as the bolt going all the way back vs. the reload which is half way. Another thing, pulling the bolt back and holding the weapon steady by the Mag??!! most times that would jam the weapon, thats why you dont fire a weapon and hold the mag with most weapons, you misalign the mag into the mag well and cause a jam.

good point, but i like how he raises the gun on the reload, by this way u can see the skin in all its glory.

iif the model was just defoved..... :kitty:

Nice work Splinter, in my opinion this carbine is good, but not perfect, and here's why:

for the M1A1, in the draw animation, the stock folds out all by itself, not very pretty imo.

the reload animation is innacurate and seems a bit rushed. realistically, the M1 Carbine has a little push tab magazine release that, when pressed, releases the magazine. pulling the magazine out without pressing this button is impossible. not to mention the holding of the magazine while pulling the bolt back, doing this would not only damage the magazine, and possible the magazine well, but it would also, as Hawk said, jam the weapon. also, it can be very clearly seen that when the left hand comes up to slap a new magazine into the magazine well, it (the magazine) twists in mid-air.

another thing that I have found I dislike about all your models. you use the exact same model for v_, p_, and w_ models, which means the all have empty holes in the front and back.

other than that, this is a good M1 Carbine replacement, just not one I can see myself using regularly.

P.S. first post. :)

with regards to the empty holes, you can thank the dod team for that.

Thats model related, ole splinty cant do much about it because there were never any verts there. And using the default crap p models just isnt cool :P

as for the animations, yeah so they arent correct, still better than the default imo :)

oh, I thought it was very low poly for a sexy weapon replacement.

also, anything's better than the default animations, imo. :p

I believe it's a method of staining metal, but I'm not entirely certain.

PARKERIZING

Parkerizing (sometimes called phosphating) is a method of protecting steel. Steel is a metal alloy whose major component is iron, with carbon being the primary alloying material. Carbon acts as a binding agent, locking the otherwise easily-moved iron atoms into a rigid lattice. Varying the amount of carbon and its distribution in the alloy controls the qualities of the resulting steel. With the increased carbon, steel is harder and has a much higher tensile strength than iron, but is also more brittle. One classical definition is that steels are iron-carbon alloys with up to 2.1 percent carbon and thus increasing their durability. It is commonly used on weapons.

Hrm. That could be taken a number of ways.

One way is how you took it. "some talent" meaning that talent exists. It's there.

Or "some talent" on a grand scale. Like, "Woa! That was some earthquake!"

*shrugs*

Anyway, nice skin.
