Will DoD Source change mapping theory?

Once DoD is release onto the 'big screen' of engines will the DoD maps change their style? I am thinking because of the great aditions that the engine will add, better vechiles, better object physics, physical size of maps can be larger, and all the other cool stuff.
We all think sometimes 'Wouldn't it be great have have a big mofo tank to squish the enemy with?' but I have a feeling rules must be set to stop a BF1942 run-away. DoD is much smaller than BF1942 but I think origionaly because of the limitations of the engine.
Personal I think the maps should stay small with no vechiles besides perhaps vechiles to drop 'reinforcments'.
But I think additions could be better terrian and landscaping :D , perhaps movable cover, ie boxes, crates, broken fences...
I guess my point is Beware of the 'OMG!!! Look at this cool thing I can put here!!!' thing and stay focused on what DoD is all about.
Although vechiles would be rather cool.. MUHAHAHA crusherton!

I think this all the time ;)

I expect the custom mapping scene to provide more of the larger outdoor maps than the official ones.

We will most likely only see updates and improvements on exsisting maps for the time being. Time being meaning through 2005. No, not true? Surprise me dod team.

yea. its a pity CSS doesnt incorperate some of those things you mentioned like boxes you can move for cover (although they have barrels, they're pretty useless)

it would be cool to make blockades and block doors and doorways with objects, it can be done, but it can lag the server a bit, thats y they took it out of css.

I'll be able to make my outdoor maps as large scale and detailed as I had originally intended. *rubs hands together*

Isn't map scale mod-specific as opposed to map-specific?

I think it's map-specific since the scale of the map's are general.
I guess

Map-specific would mean that dod_mapA would be 50 yards, and dod_mapB would be 5 miles. Although scaling changes the size of the unit, so 1:12 would mean one unit is one foot.

lol I never thought how much physics would lag severs, but it would be quite a lot of information...

But when Ive been mapping my maps always seem to come right to the edge of the grid with Hammer :D Im greedy :p

Still I'd love to see some nice big Doll Parton hills and rivers and *drool* explosions....

heh btw i am really greedy, when I was half way through my current map I got the error : too many polygons :D

I don't care about size ... these maps have the potential to be the most atmospheric maps of all time.
