Hammer & Steam

Hi all, hope im posting this in the right place, well here goes.
I'm a total n00b in the mapping scene, but up to now i've created a pretty funky looking map, learnt doors & windows, texturing & the likes, just the basics really.
Now here's my problem: a while ago i tried setting up hammer with my old half life installation (not steam) When i created a box, i could go inside and view/test the box. (i gave up after some time as it all baffled me) Now i've got hammer set up with steam (thought i'd give it another try) and cant do no such thing anymore, when i press F9 the Compile Proccess Window says there was a problem compiling the map, but sometimes it says no errors at all. Really i would like to know what is the correct way to set up hammer with steam as i've followed 1 or 2 online tutorials and tried lots of FAQ's to no avail. maybe i've done it wrong :( or should i install my Half Life and DoD mod??

Please help me as i really would like to get mapping

Did you follow a specific tutorial for setting up Hammer with Steam, like this one?

http://www.mardymouse.co.uk/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=1

Post the compile log from the output window. That should help in narrowing down the problem.

That's the tutorial i followed, & just to make sure i set it all up again in case i missed anything last time, i tried making a fresh box and running that and heres what i got:

Some people have had problems using Hammer with Steam. I've looked at this but I can't see what is going wrong.

Glad to see you sorted your problem, I can only suggest anyone having problems using Hammer with Steam to use a batch compiler instead.
