For those of you who don't know what this is, it is a recreation of my all time favourite, and hopefully is your too, day of defeat map. Koln was original created by Waldo, and with his permission, I have updated it to play better and look better. There are some key new features of the map that really help reduce camping and promote some more fast paced action. What you will be able to download is beta 3. Beta 1 and beta 2 were play tested with the Crowbards of Justice, and they have spotted out some bugs and helped with suggestions on how to make the map better. So, basically, this is like the last stage of testing. I want to get lots more opinions on the map, and hopefully you guys can point out some bugs before I do a final release.

Here are some older pictures. They arent much different now, if not at all, but there could be some minor adjustments to what you see.

If there are any serious bugs, that cause some errors from preventing you from playing the map, contact me ASAP. But I have tested this several times and that should not be. If you find minor problems, like sticky spots or what not, just post them here.

Forget the photoshop graphics and ugly scanlines and just post clean screenshots. Perferably high res ones. Those take up less and 1/4 of my monitor.

Just out of curiosity, how did this train car get flipped onto its side and then get a pile of crap beneath it? :p

Looks like a good map, love to try it on a server!

I had a run around and it looks good, only found a tiny
error wich dont realy matter but thought you would like to know.
Dont know what this kind of error is called but it looked like
it was something wrong with the vertexes or something...

It was only visable when standing in one aeria as you can see
from the pics, just a feet away it looked ok.
So I dont think you should worry about it.
GJ!

Yah, it must of been the compile. But I didnt wanna recompile for just that. You are in about 1 foot of space there and its in a doorway in spawn.

Good map, but a lot of locations are very different.

And why are the spawns exactly equal for both teams?

ahh, you took out the halftrack by the Axis spawn, that will help.

Great work Neutrino!

It definitely has a Koln look and feel to it, but it looks sparse. It is very monochrome with everything being a bit too grey for my liking. I understand that the city is in ruins and there is a fierce battle going on, but the eye candy seems lacking. It almost seems as though the map is 80% done and truly is in a beta stage, IMHO.

Also, the 55 gallon drums full of "US ARMY DIESEL FUEL" are glarlingly out of place. One would assume that these are captured USA drums somehow stacked up at a German tank repair center. But the US Army exclusively used gasoline for everything during WW2.

I agree with this, but it is a remake of an old map. It is made for HL1 which is the equivelant of a quake II map compared to other game engines, and I dont think Neutrino is gonna spend ungodly hours working on someone else's map.

Feedback wise, Id say try and add something to the train wreck area to give a more destroyed look to it. perhaps some brushes lying around in pieces or some more rubble.

not much I can do. im not sacrificing r_speeds to please the appearance anymore. its pretty good, and its really good for the engine its on. i would just wait for soure till u see the massive improvement in quality.

I just installed it on 907th servers, just not on rotation yet on the public server.

We also host the map and all maps are auto-downloaded from our public server.

I love the old koln just because of the slower gamplay, great tactick and aloy of sneaking and backshooting. It made it something compleatly diffrent than most of the other dod maps. That's probably why many people hated it too.

anyway, to the point. Don't make it too "pop"
try to keap the old playstyle and fealing

but that's just my twisted opinion.

btw. koln on hl2 :eek::carrot:
