Do the.Wad files have to be located in your steam dir?? or even on the same hard drive?
i Have a little 20gb hard drive i use just for storing textures/sounds etc,but when i link to these .wad's with Hammer, during compiling it say's cannot find them.

RaNd0M is right for when the map is compiled and you want to play the map, that's if you've not embeded the textures in your map.

Otherwise it all depends on where the files are relative to Hammer. I've seen other people with similar problems as you, they also had files on a differnet Hard Drive.

I've tried to recreate problems like this but no matter what I do things just seem to work. I think I'll dust down an old Hard Drive and see it's that causing the problem.

You could try putting all files on the same Hard Drive and testing it?

They are all on my d: drive with the exception of hlbasics, my apologies for posting this, with hindsight i could of just tested it myself, although i didn't know if placing wad files like glider, anzio etc, would interfer with the .gcf files that contain them.Really don't want to re-install steam!!

Another quicky,i have seen a few people talking about Model_zoo,i have done google searches and searches on this site, but all i can find are people saying they have it,not where it is.

its naughty to use wad files from official wads, well i dont mean that i mean you should really use "wally" to get the textures you want and make them into your own mapwad, also a good idea considering dod:s might come out one day and the textures might have changed or wont be there.

All of my latest maps use default wads :kitty:

I'd suggest keeping the mapping files away from your steam folder for the reasons you have mentioned, if DoD updates you could have problems with your default content being different.

No disrespect to the guys that put the model zoo together but the clip brushes weren't of the highest quality. I suggest you make your own.
