One for the skinners

Hello all, some of you may of noticed i've not been about for awhile now, this is because i have other real life stuff to be getting on with, and have also stop playing DOD and moved over to CODUO. So this i guess will be my final release on these forums, it's the Bren Mk2 that i originally sent to poly to skin, but that was weeks ago, so thought i would give others a crack at it, as he looks all tied up. Please read the readme as it contains the credits and also how i would like the model to be released.

Nice to see you picked this one up BruT, looking forward to seeing you bring this model alive.......:). Don't worry Billie|Joe i might yet return, as most of you who know of me by now, must of sused i change my mind all the time.......LMAO, say one thing do another...HEHE. So if i get fed up with CODUO i'm sure to return here, because DOD and CODUO are the only online games that have grabbed me by the balls from the off......:).

it doesnt have the butt stock but *cries* reckon u could make that into some p & w's?

Sorry but i want be making any P & w models to go with it, i never meshed the full model, i only meshed it once i had cut the poly's back. The poly's could be cut back further for the default anim's, the only reason i never cut them back more, was for those wishing to maybe use the 3 arm anim's with it. Maybe someone could hack your skins onto the default w & p models once your done.

Whale dude released high poly Bren models with brut's skins if i remember right, people don't notice the details on the p/w models anyway, there's no reason to have 3500 polygon models running around the map... it will kill your FPS and you won't feel any diffrence.

Damn sexy gun, I love the detail you put into it. (is that your vid card that renders it that smooth or are there just 2,038,745,870,234 polys)

My opinion on high poly models is:
If you want a lot of people to use it with out fear of FPS loss, make it low poly
If you want to make the best posible looking weapon with no worries about those with lower end models, make high poly (the way I fugure is someone paid $$ for a good card, they deserve to play with high end models).

Usualy there is a good middle ground, but as a modeler that is not being paid to make user friendly models, it is realy up to you. BUT be aware that those of us with crappy vid cards and money to upgrade will have to just look at the pretty pictures.
p_ and w_ models are a realy cheap way to cut polys, but if you do keep the high end models us low enders can always just use the default p_ and w_.

The Bren model is 2360 poly's, it's only when you add the hands and my sleeve models that it ends up around 3500 poly's. It's possible like i mentioned earlier that the polycount for the Bren could be reduced even further if using the default anim's. Though the only reason i never reduced it further is for any wishing to use Glimsharps anim's or the edited 3 arm animations with it, because these anim's show the right side of the model, where the default anim's don't.

Just thought i would bump this thread, in the hope someone might get tempted in skinning it, seems a shame to let it go to waste. So please someone skin this for the communtiy..........:).

I might give it another go, not got so much on right now and I'm gearing down my HL1 stuff and starting source things so I have some time before DoD:S.

Getting a Wacom tablet too next week :)
