new grenade animations?

Is there a desire for new grenade animations?

I made some for me, and thought maybe others might want them.

These animations are specificaly the explode_XXX.smd ones.

there are:
explode_idle - holding a primed grenade (in Beta days used to shake the hand)
explode_draw - pick up a primed grenade
explode_pinpull - prime a primed grenade ?? (I dont know either...)
explode_throw - throwing a primed grenade

I only changed the idle and draw, and if anyone likes to use primed grenades, I can clean it up and release it, or if there are only a couple people I might just let them use what I have currently (ie. practical, but not pretty)

here is a screen shot of primed and not primed, let me know

sorry about the hands, I am just displaying the animations. This grenade is the USMC's concussion grenade for the JapPack.
"why not use a pineapple??!"
The Japanes grenade looks a lot like the pineapple and it is easier to distinguish the 2 in game, so we decided on the smoother one to help in game (even though it was not used much in WW2)

But I am not here to advertise the model, just the animations of it (since that is the nade I use, that is the one displayed, I don't have the pineapple readily accessable)

Any comments, a different idea for the "look" of the annimation?
All I did was move the fingers off the grenade so you can see the difference easier, the older use of the shaking hand is even easier to see, but kind of weird. ;)

sooo... comments? (animations only, don't worry about the model the animation is using)

hey ok it looks a bit strages with the 2 fingers away from the gernade like were the handle would go maby move thes 2 finggers so there are on the gernade i think it would just be a bit for cofterbule but what ever.

++EDIT++

the pineapple for get about that i meant the mk2 fragmation gernade used by most of the gi but now u say it for the jap pack then ya looks good

== JUST to cleaer that up abit==

but the animations look good mate

I like the animations Billy. BTW, has anyone else reanimated the grenade throw/pull-pin animations before?

Oh yes! please do release it with the beta explode idle animation.

One request though, could you do it for all the original models instead of custom ones?

I've been requesting this since they took it out.

I would be eternally grateful.

:Edit: OK, just read the thing about not mentioning the model...sorry, well then I guess I can do nothing but wait now.

I tried myself last night and this morning to get the old explode_idle animations on the new nades, but I didn't reach any success so I gave it up.

Milkshape and all those other 3D programs are for you nutty bunnies :)

Hope to see this sometime soon though.

Dying Robot, I will play with the anims this week, and make them nice and place them on the default models. I just started a new job and between that, school, my kid, there isn't that much left for other crap, but I like doing animations and this is something I will use, so...

As it is, the primed and not primed grenades look the same. Not a problem if you pickup an enemy grenade, but if you are infantry and prime a grenade, your 2nd grenade is in your hand, you hit <USE>, did you get that primed grenade, or is that one in your hand still the second one and you are standing on the primed one still??!?!

if anyone has a better visual clue (spoon on/off is OK, but too subtle for me, and the hand violently shaking is too over the top) I am open to suggestions at the time, before I put too much effort into it.

thanks billy. I understand your time dilemma, good of you to try and make time for this atleast, appreciated here.

I don't know if this could be implemented or not, but one way to indicate that a nade is primed would be that there could be a little bit of smoke coming from it (not too much, just indicating that the fuse is burning) and him holding it slightly different. I personally liked the shaky-hand-animation of b1.3...so that would be ideal for me. But the next best thing would be whatever you can come up with.

Billy, if you can get the animations down, I got a new high poly nade I've been working on. Holler at me if your interested.

ez, will it be using the same bones?

Dying Robot - I have absolutely no idea how to do that, if there was a way to trigger a sprite, or maybe add it to the model some way?

Well it looks like the server hosting my PTC is down, dodnetwork.com, I hope it is just temporary. I made the animations but can't get it uploaded.

Here are the SMDs and you can compile it in JEDs, but I can't load more than 100KB, so no MDLs for you !!! !

Gravy!

I'm going to try them out.

Thanks billy
